Yunlin launches 2026 National Monuments Day heritage events

The 2026 Yunlin National Monuments Day has officially launched at the Xiluo Ke-Ding Cultural Hall under the theme ‘Tracing the City’. Running from September 5 to October 16, the event features 14 themed activities designed to connect the public with 30 different cultural heritage sites across the county.

Participants can engage with local history through walking tours, restoration experiences, lectures, and environmental theater. Notable upcoming events include a dance performance by the ‘Su’ environmental theater group at the Tuku First Market on September 19, alongside guided tours of the Shuntian Temple restoration site.

To support these efforts, the Yunlin County Government has implemented a significant preservation program. Since 2019, the government has initiated 55 cultural asset restoration projects, with 40 expected to be completed by the end of this year. Additionally, the county has designated 20 new tangible and 36 new intangible cultural assets, along with 12 technical preservationists.

A new brand identity for Yunlin’s cultural assets, designed by a team from National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, was also unveiled. The design uses flowing lines based on the character for ‘Yun’ (cloud) to symbolize the continuity of cultural memory.
