Yunus Değirmenci's Union Salary Revealed at Over 1 Million Lira

Union leader Yunus Değirmenci, head of the Özçelik‑İş Sendikası affiliated with the Hak‑İş Confederation, was listed on a May 2026 payroll with a net monthly salary of 1,058,000 Turkish lira. His deputy, Bayram Altun, received a net monthly salary of 751,000 lira.

The payroll also shows that the union leadership receives bonuses equal to five months’ salary each year and a “representation” budget amounting to about 3 % of the union’s monthly revenue. Calculations estimate Değirmenci’s annual earnings at roughly 18 million lira, averaging about 1.5 million lira per month. The leaders are reported to use luxury vehicles such as an Audi A8 and a BMW 5‑Series, each valued in the millions of lira. The union has not provided a comment on the figures.
