Yusaku Hosono wins Japan Open; JGA forms R&A partnership

Yusaku Hosono won his first Japan Open at Taro CC, finishing at 13-under par. The 23-year-old became the youngest player to win two domestic majors in a single year, following his victory at the Senko Group Cup. As a left-handed player, he is the first to achieve such a feat since Yutaka Hakawa in 1981. His victory secures him spots in next year’s Masters and The Open Championship.

In senior professional golf, Tamaneen Srilot secured his second consecutive Fancl Classic title. Srilot finished at 21-under par, setting a new tournament record and finishing six strokes ahead of the runner-up.

Additionally, the Japan Golf Association (JGA) announced a strategic partnership with the R&A Foundation. The collaboration aims to promote golf in Japan, develop talent, and support sustainability and heritage through various programs. The JGA has set a fundraising goal of 200 million yen over the next decade to support these initiatives.
