Yusaku Maezawa's luxury yacht sparks interest in Hawaii

A massive luxury yacht, estimated to be worth over $350 million, recently appeared in Hawaiian waters, sparking speculation among locals and visitors. Due to its unusual profile and size, some observers initially mistook the vessel for a military vehicle.

The yacht, named Nausicaa, has been identified as belonging to billionaire fashion entrepreneur Yusaku Maezawa. Designed by Marc Newson and built by Lurssen in Germany, the vessel features high-end amenities including a sushi bar, a split-level art gallery, a helipad, a pool, and a table tennis area. It is capable of hosting 18 guests across nine cabins and is operated by a crew of more than 36 people.

Technically, the yacht utilizes a two-megawatt battery system to maintain onboard operations while anchored without the use of generators. Its presence has also prompted discussions regarding the environmental impact and resource consumption associated with ultra-luxury maritime lifestyles.
