Yusuf Eren Aydın becomes Turkish table tennis champion
Eight-year-old Yusuf Eren Aydın has emerged as a rising talent in table tennis after securing a Turkish championship. Based in Konya, the young athlete began his training at age five, initially practicing on a table set up on his family's balcony.
Yusuf Eren is the son of Ufuk Aydın, a teacher and table tennis coach with 11 years of experience. Under his father's guidance and the training of national team coach Muhammed Huzeyfe Kılınç at the Karatay Youth Center, the boy has shown significant progress despite his small stature. At age seven, Yusuf Eren competed in the Under-Six Turkey Championship in Nevşehir, where he defeated opponents one year older to claim the title.
The coaching staff noted that while he was initially so small he struggled to reach the table, his determination and belief in winning against more experienced players set him apart. The long-term goal for the athlete and his team is to progress through national team camps to compete in Balkan, European, and World championships, with the ultimate aim of competing in the Olympics.
