Yusuf Taha Turp, 13-year-old Turkish wrestling champion, dies

Yusuf Taha Turp, a 13-year-old Turkish wrestling champion, has passed away following a sudden illness. Turp, who competed for Yıldırım Belediyespor in Bursa, was a notable young talent, having secured championships in both freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling in the U-13 category.

The athlete fell ill while in Istanbul to attend the Presidential Oil Wrestling Cup. He was subsequently taken to Kanuni Sultan Süleyman Training and Research Hospital, where reports indicate he suffered a blood clot in the brain.

Following the news, Turkey Wrestling Federation President Taha Akgül and Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak issued messages of condolence to the athlete's family and the sporting community. The funeral was scheduled to take place in the Yıldırım district of Bursa.
