Yusuf Tekin meets with 506 scholarship students heading abroad
Turkish National Education Minister Yusuf Tekin met with 506 scholarship recipients participating in the 1416 Scholarships Adaptation and Vision Program. These students are set to pursue postgraduate studies in 26 different countries, including Canada, New Zealand, Germany, and Singapore.
The scholars will specialize in strategic fields such as artificial intelligence, data science, health technologies, energy, defense technologies, and climate change. Minister Tekin emphasized that these students represent Turkey abroad, urging them to act as ambassadors of the Republic and to focus on enhancing the country's academic competitiveness and strength.
During his address, Tekin cautioned students against developing “meaningless admiration” for the countries they visit. He stated that while they should observe innovations, their ultimate goal should be to serve Turkey's future and its long-standing history upon their return. He also reflected on his efforts since 2013 to reform the scholarship system to ensure it serves national interests rather than specific political or economic groups.
