Yuta Izumiguchi wins JERA Central League Award

Yuta Izumiguchi, an infielder for the Yomiuri Giants, has been named the JERA Central League Award winner for September and October. The award ceremony took place at the Giants' stadium during autumn training camp.

During the two-month period, Izumiguchi recorded a batting average of .337, two home runs, and 16 RBIs. His performance was highlighted by a .500 batting average with runners in scoring position and a September OPS of 1.000, playing a key role during the team's pennant race.

Yoshinobu Takahashi, the newly appointed head coach of the Giants, presented the award. Takahashi, who had previously served as a selection committee member for the awards before transitioning to his coaching role in late October, addressed the unique circumstances of his participation by jokingly stating that his selection of Izumiguchi was not due to favoritism. Takahashi expressed high expectations for Izumiguchi to become a central figure for the team next season.
