Yutaka Matsushige produces new food-themed drama ‘Oishii no Tsukurikata’

Actor Yutaka Matsushige, known for his role in ‘Solitary Gourmet’, has produced, scripted, and directed a new human drama titled ‘Oishii no Tsukurikata’. The series, which began streaming exclusively on Prime Video on October 3, focuses on the bonds created through cooking and the connection between people and food.

The story follows a skilled chef, played by Yukiya Kitamura, who moves to a nursing home after being dismissed from a prestigious restaurant. There, his cooking helps a resident regain her will to live. The plot also involves a character played by Non, a director for a recipe video company, who seeks to preserve the legacy of her grandfather’s beloved Western-style restaurant.

During a press conference for the release, Matsushige expressed his respect for restaurant owners, noting that after 15 years of filming ‘Solitary Gourmet’, he witnessed many establishments close or owners fall ill. He also discussed the importance of character in acting and the specific focus on pork sauté as a central dish in the series.
