Yvelines car fire investigation launched after two deaths

The Bureau of Land Transport Accident Investigations (BEA-TT) has launched a technical investigation following a fatal vehicle fire on the A13 motorway in Yvelines, France. The incident occurred in a tunnel near Mantes-la-Ville on a Saturday, resulting in the deaths of a nine-month pregnant woman and her four-year-old son.

A third person was hospitalized in critical condition. Emergency responders, including 74 firefighters and 15 vehicles, attended the scene, where both victims were already deceased upon arrival.

The Versailles Prosecutor's Office stated that the accident was not caused by a collision with another vehicle. Preliminary reports indicate the vehicle involved was an electric Seat-Cupra model. The manufacturer has declined to comment on the specific brand or circumstances until the ongoing judicial and technical investigations are completed.
