Yvelines court case follows violent kidnapping of crypto entrepreneur’s mother

A man involved in the violent kidnapping and sequestration of a cryptocurrency entrepreneur’s mother in Élancourt, Yvelines, has appeared before the Versailles investigative chamber to request his release.

The suspect, aged 36, is facing trial in the Yvelines Assize Court alongside three accomplices. He has claimed he did not participate directly in the sequestration and stated he would not have agreed to the act had he known it targeted a woman.

The incident occurred in July 2023, when an individual posing as a delivery driver gained entry to the victim's home, leading to a violent assault. This case follows a reported increase in targeted aggressions against cryptocurrency holders.
