Yvonne Frei to release memoir about solo camper journey to Kyrgyzstan

Yvonne Frei is set to release her book, ‘Reisen, wachsen, leben’, through GOLD Verlag on October 12, 2026. The memoir chronicles her solo journey by camper from Switzerland to Central Asia, a trip that included traversing Iran to reach a hospital for children with cleft lips and palates in Osh, Kyrgyzstan.

The narrative focuses on the experience of traveling through diverse landscapes—ranging from high mountains and deserts to modern cities along the Silk Road—and the personal growth achieved by stepping outside one's comfort zone. Frei explores themes of cultural curiosity, hospitality, and the challenging of personal prejudices and preconceived notions regarding freedom and trust.
