Yvonne Okoro criticises lack of support for Ghanaian films

Ghanaian actor and film producer Yvonne Okoro has expressed frustration regarding the lack of domestic support for the local film industry. During an interview on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, Okoro argued that Ghanaian audiences are often quick to dismiss local productions as sub-standard while readily consuming and praising poor-quality films from Hollywood and Nigeria.

Okoro noted that while filmmakers are working hard to sustain the industry, they frequently face skepticism from local viewers. She observed that audiences often overlook high-quality Ghanaian productions, only acknowledging them after they have been marketed for extended periods, yet they will applaud mediocre foreign content.
