Yvonne Whear missing for six months as search persists near Dungay, NSW
Yvonne Whear, a 73‑year‑old resident of the Northern Rivers region, vanished on 19 February 2026 after CCTV captured her driving north on Queensland Road at Murwillumbah toward her hobby farm near Dungay, a small town on the NSW‑Queensland border. Her mobile phone was last detected pinging a tower near Dulguigan on 20 February and has not been heard from since. Her daughter, Gillian Hallac, arrived at the home to find Whear’s boots and hat left at the door and the family’s ducks, chickens, dogs, rabbits and cats unattended.
NSW Police have conducted extensive ground searches of ravines, valleys and dense bush, and have deployed drones, helicopters and divers in the Rous River, but no trace of Whear or her gold Ford Escape has been located. Hallac believes her mother was taken, and the investigation remains open.
