Zé Rafael joins Alverca and criticizes Santos over unpaid wages

Brazilian midfielder Zé Rafael has joined the Portuguese club Alverca following his departure from Santos. Upon announcing his move, the 33-year-old responded to social media criticism from Santos supporters regarding his performance and the investment made by the Brazilian club.

Zé Rafael alleged that Santos failed to honor his contract, claiming he went “several and several months” without receiving payment. He emphasized that he maintained his professional commitment by continuing to train despite the financial issues and stated that he was the one who decided to terminate his contract, which was originally valid until December 2027.

He expressed strong dissatisfaction with his time at the club, stating, “you can be sure that I will pass well far from this place without feeling any nostalgia at all.” The midfielder, who previously enjoyed a successful tenure at Palmeiras, moves to Portugal to seek a new challenge in the Portuguese league.
