Netherlands criminal cases involve online coercion and attempted assassination
Several criminal cases are progressing through the Dutch legal system involving abuse, stalking, and violent crime.
In Rotterdam, 20-year-old Mohammed H. is accused of coercing a 16-year-old girl into self-harm. Prosecutors allege he pressured her to carve the name ‘Zoro’ into her body and threatened to release explicit photos to force sexual acts. The case is linked to online groups like ‘764’ and ‘The Com’ that normalize extreme violence.
In Zaandam, the Public Prosecution Service is seeking 18 years in prison for a 45-year-old man involved in a planned assassination attempt. The victim survived a shooting on July 10 after the perpetrator's weapon malfunctioned. Evidence including a tracking beacon and sulfuric acid suggests a premeditated attack.
In other rulings, a 42-year-old man received 14 months in prison for long-term stalking and defamation of his ex-partner, which resulted in her developing PTSD. Additionally, a 34-year-old woman faces a nine-year prison demand for the death of her 10-month-old son via forceful shaking. Meanwhile, the Den Haag police EVA-Team successfully apprehended 46 fugitives owing a combined 64 years of prison time and significant fines.
In a separate matter, a man was sentenced to 14 months for stalking his ex-girlfriend, even conducting harassment from within the Nieuwegein prison.
