Zaanstad and Oegstgeest advance major housing projects
The Peperstraat redevelopment in Zaanstad is preparing to start construction after the summer of 2026 despite a pending appeal before the Dutch Council of State. The plan includes nine new buildings with 571 homes, about 30 % of which are social‑rent units, and an underground garage with 334 parking spaces.
In Oegstgeest, officials symbolically drove the first pile for the Ganzeneiland villa park on 4 July 2026. The development will comprise six luxury villas, three mid‑range rental units and three social‑rent apartments, with completion expected in early 2027. The project emphasizes sustainable design, including thatched roofs, private boathouses and water‑linked canals.
