Zaanstad officials criticize proposed high-voltage grid expansion
The municipality of Zaanstad has expressed strong criticism regarding the proposed route for a new high-voltage connection in North Holland. Local officials argue that the preferred design for the grid expansion fails to adequately consider public health, livability, local businesses, and spatial quality.
The proposed plan includes a new 380 kV high-voltage connection running along the Assendelft residential area and a high-voltage station located between Beverwijk and Zaanstad. While the government acknowledges the necessity of expanding the electricity grid to combat congestion, Zaanstad officials claim the current justification lacks sufficient clarity for residents facing significant local impacts.
Following discussions with the State Secretary for Climate and Green Growth, the government intends to make the plans available for public inspection starting October 23, with the first information session scheduled for November 5 in Assendelft.
