ZAC and Zwolsche Boys football clubs unite for cancer fundraiser

Football rivals ZAC and Zwolsche Boys will set aside their competition for a cup derby on Saturday, August 29, to support Niek Meijberg. All entrance fees from the match will go toward a crowdfunding campaign for Meijberg, a former ZAC player.

Meijberg, a father of a two-year-old, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer in August 2025. After undergoing surgery and intensive treatments in the Netherlands, the tumor returned. Because a significant portion of his treatment costs are not covered by Dutch health insurance, his family and friends are raising funds to support his continued medical search, which has included specialized treatment in Dresden.
