Zacatecas Education Secretary reports positive start to school year
Armando Delgadillo Ruvalcaba, the Secretary of Education for Zacatecas, reported a positive start to the 2026-2027 school year, noting that teacher attendance reached 100% despite ongoing legal and administrative challenges.
Delgadillo stated that teacher shortages have been addressed and recent marches have ceased. However, he acknowledged the closure of the Benemérita Escuela Normal Manuel Ávila Camacho (BENMAC). He noted that while he has not yet met with strikers to discuss their list of demands, he previously offered a working group to the SNTE Section 58 secretary, Marcelino Rodarte, which was declined.
Additionally, the Secretary addressed issues regarding school enrollment and staffing. He explained that some parents have protested the lack of teachers or directors, but clarified that legal adjustments and enrollment regulations prevent the assignment of additional staff in certain cases.
