Zacatecas educators and parents protest against Seduzac

Teachers and parents in Zacatecas have launched various protests against the state's Secretariat of Education (Seduzac) regarding labor disputes and resource shortages.

At the Seduzac offices, staff from the Emiliano Zapata Child Development Centers (CENDI), art teachers, and physical education instructors blocked access. CENDI staff are demanding work center keys necessary to secure federal subsidies, a request pending for over six months. Physical education teachers are seeking unpaid bonuses, while art teachers report they have not received the Teacher's Day bonus in two years. Additionally, basic education teachers are calling for the creation of five new school supervisions.

In Sombrerete, parents have occupied the Miguel Auza primary school to demand a teacher for a third-grade class. Currently, a single teacher is managing a group of 43 students. While the Subsecretariat of Planning stated that no teacher could be assigned and suggested relocating students to nearby schools, school officials and parents have rejected this, citing the right to choose their preferred educational center. Parents intend to maintain the occupation until a response is received from central authorities.
