Zacatecas Government Finds Human Remains in Tepechitlán Search

On 19 June 2026, the state government of Zacatecas, led by Governor David Monreal Ávila, conducted a widespread forensic search in the mountainous area of the municipality of Tepechitlán. Using technological tools, teams from the Local Search Commission, the Secretary of Government, the Specialized Prosecutor for Forced Disappearance, the State Attorney General’s Office, the Public Security Secretariat, the National Guard and the Mexican Army located human skeletal remains. The remains have been transferred to the State Attorney General’s Office for analysis and potential identification, as part of the government's ongoing support for families of the missing.

The operation underscores the state's commitment to addressing disappearances and providing continual assistance to affected relatives.
