Zacatecas government to build headquarters for Local Missing‑Persons Commission

The state government of Zacatecas, led by Governor David Monreal Ávila, will construct a new building this year to house the Local Commission for the Search of Missing Persons. The 5,224.79 m² parcel was transferred between the Secretariats of Government and Administration, and the project will be funded with just over 26 million pesos of federal resources.

President Claudia Sheinbaum, through the National Search Commission, endorsed the initiative. The future headquarters will include general offices, operational coordination spaces, victim‑assistance areas, archival and information‑storage facilities. The effort involves cooperation with the Mexican Army, the National Guard, state security agencies, the State Attorney General’s Office, the Federal Attorney General’s Office, and the Commission itself. Officials highlighted the work of specialized prosecutor Deisy Janett Montes Márquez, local commissioner Everardo Ramírez Aguayo, and families’ collectives.

The construction aims to provide a dignified space for both officials and families of the disappeared, enhancing coordination of permanent search actions across the state.
