Zacatecas hosts Copa Value 2026 basketball tournament

The Copa Value 2026, a major tournament of the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional (LNBP), has commenced in Zacatecas, Mexico. The event features eight of the country's top basketball teams competing in a direct elimination format at the Marcelino González Gymnasium.

In the opening matches, Soles de Mexicali defeated Lobos de Puebla with a score of 71-67. Kaleb Hunter was named Most Valuable Player of the game after recording 17 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists. The Soles will face the winner of the matchup between Astros de Jalisco and Fuerza Regia de Monterrey.

In the second game, the local team Mineros de Zacatecas secured a 96-86 victory over Abejas de León. Daishon Smith earned MVP honors for the Mineros, contributing 26 points and 5 assists. The Mineros are set to play the winner of the contest between Panteras de Aguascalientes and Dorados de Chihuahua.
