Zacatecas International Folklore Festival 2026 attracts global delegations

From 14 to 16 August 2026, the city of Zacatecas, Mexico, will host the 29th Festival Zacatecas del Folclor Internacional “Gustavo Vaquera Contreras”. The three‑day event features more than 320 artistic, academic and gastronomic activities – a 28 % increase over the previous edition – and is projected to generate an economic impact of 15‑20 million pesos for the local economy.

The program includes performances by Mexican ensembles such as the Grupo de Danza Folklórica Tenamaztle, Ballet Folklórico Internacional Plateros, the Compañía Jóvenes Zapateadores and the Grupo de Danza Folklórica Ave Fénix Zacatecas, as well as international groups: Agrupación Folklórica Labrante from Arucas, Canary Islands (Spain); Lous Réoulès Groupe Folklorique from Gironde (France); and Ensamble Matija Gubec from Karlovac (Croatia). Delegations and cultural institutions from more than a dozen countries – including Spain, France, Croatia, Italy, Japan, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Serbia, Kazakhstan, the Czech Republic, Guatemala, the United States, Ireland, Germany, Argentina, South Africa, Cuba, Jordan and Ukraine – are scheduled to attend.
