Zacatecas hosts Mexican Open Karate 2026

Zacatecas is hosting the 2026 Mexican Open Karate, an event featuring approximately 1,200 athletes from 10 different Mexican states. Held from August 14 to 16, the competition includes kata, kumite, team, and Kobudo modalities. This tournament serves as a selection process for the upcoming Pan American championships.

The event is a collaborative effort involving the Autonomous University of Zacatecas (UAZ) and local government authorities. Officials noted that hosting such national-scale competitions helps boost local tourism and economic activity, reinforcing the state's capacity to host major sporting events.
