Zacatecas political parties position candidates for 2027

Political maneuvering for the 2027 elections in Zacatecas, Mexico, has intensified as major parties begin positioning potential candidates and exploring alliances.

In Zacatecas, Morena has designated Verónica Díaz as the state coordinator for the Defense of Transformation and Sovereignty. The PAN has tapped Miguel Varela, the mayor of the capital, to lead its agenda regarding family, freedom, and security. Meanwhile, the PRI has named Adolfo Bonilla as a coordinator for its local defenders.

Regarding potential coalitions, Nueva Alianza has denied reports of ongoing negotiations with Morena. While the state president of Morena, Rita Ozalia Rodríguez Velázquez, suggested that work toward an alliance with Nueva Alianza was underway, Nueva Alianza legislator Crisógono Pérez López stated that no such conversations have occurred. The party has not yet decided whether it will run independently or seek a coalition for the 2027 electoral cycle.
