Leaders of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) in Zacatecas, including state leader Carlos Peña Badillo, have condemned a recent attack in Ojocaliente, labeling it a “terrorist” act. The party leadership criticized the state government and the Morena party, accusing them of being irresponsible and providing misleading statistics regarding the state's security situation.

Peña Badillo reported a significant increase in violent incidents involving drones and explosives between 2024 and 2026. He listed numerous locations affected by these attacks, including Luis Moya, Villanueva, Tabasco, Ciudad Cuauhtémoc, Pinos, García de la Cadena, Villa García, and Ojocaliente. The PRI leadership called on the state government to take responsibility for the rising violence and to stop providing inaccurate information regarding the pacification of the state.
