Zacatecas to host 23rd International Street Theater Festival

The 23rd International Street Theater Festival will take place in Zacatecas from October 9 to 17, transforming the city's historic plazas and colonial architecture into performance spaces. The event features 19 performance companies, including nine local, four national, and six international groups from countries such as France, Argentina, Chile, Spain, and the Netherlands.

Key highlights include the opening performance, ‘Supernova’ by Argentina’s Élevé Danza Vertical, which utilizes a hydraulic crane to perform at heights exceeding 50 meters. International participants include France’s Compagnie Transe Express, featuring giant puppets, and Cie. Gratte Ciel, which performs a piece previously seen at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The festival will conclude on October 17 with ‘Avenir’ by the Netherlands’ Close-Act Theatre, a production involving mechanical creatures and a robot girl.

Beyond the capital, activities will extend to various municipalities including Atolinga, Guadalupe, Jerez, and Valparaíso. This edition marks the final production under the current administration, concluding a 22-year cycle of providing free high-caliber performing arts to the public.
