Zacch Adedeji defends impact of Nigerian economic reforms
Dr. Zacch Adedeji, Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), has defended the impact of President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms on the Nigerian population. Responding to inquiries regarding why the “common man” has not yet felt the benefits of improved macroeconomic indices, Adedeji cited several key developments as evidence of progress.
He highlighted the doubling of the minimum wage, increased fiscal allocations to the 36 states and 774 Local Government Areas, and a fiscal turnaround that has facilitated the prompt payment of salaries and settlement of arrears. Additionally, Adedeji pointed to millions of students benefiting from NELFUND and job creation resulting from increased infrastructure spending, specifically citing major projects like the Lagos-Calabar coastal road and the Sokoto-Badagry expressway.
