Zach Braff nearly directed Marvel's 'Wonder Man' before cancellation

Actor and filmmaker Zach Braff revealed that he was nearly a director for the second season of the Marvel series ‘Wonder Man’ before the show was abruptly cancelled. Braff stated that after expressing his enthusiasm for the first season, Marvel told him he was on the list for directorial consideration. However, just one week later, he was informed that the Emmy-nominated series had been cancelled.

Lead actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II attributed the cancellation to viewership numbers, despite the show having previously been renewed for a second season. Abdul-Mateen II criticized the decision, suggesting the optics regarding the handling of Black-led stories within the Marvel Cinematic Universe were problematic.
