Zachęta National Gallery of Art hosts Joao Maria Gusmao exhibition

The Zachęta National Gallery of Art in Warsaw is hosting a new exhibition titled ‘Joao Maria Gusmao. In the Footsteps of the White Tiger’. The showcase features 12 works described by the Portuguese artist as ‘film sculptures’.

These looped projections utilize slow-motion footage and sensory-stimulating techniques to challenge viewer perception and explore the medium of moving images. Curated by Post Brothers, the exhibition focuses on the representation of movement and the illusion of motion. One featured work utilizes a unique filming technique to capture a gas lamp on Warsaw’s Agrykola Street during both day and night on a single strip of film.
