Zack Snyder provides update on potential ‘Rebel Moon 3’
Director Zack Snyder has provided a cautious update regarding the possibility of a third installment in his Netflix sci-fi franchise, ‘Rebel Moon’. Speaking at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Snyder expressed uncertainty about the film’s immediate future but suggested that the popularity of the extended R-rated director’s cuts could create a “groundswell” of interest to justify a sequel.
The franchise’s future remains uncertain following mixed critical reception for ‘Part One: A Child of Fire’ and ‘Part Two: The Scargiver’. While co-writer Kurt Johnstad previously indicated that outlines for sequels three through six had been developed, recent viewership data shows a decline in audience retention. The director’s cuts, which include additional footage and uncensored content, have seen modest viewership numbers compared to the initial theatrical-length releases.
