Zack Snyder to premiere ‘The Last Photograph’ at TIFF 2026

Director Zack Snyder will premiere his new independent film, ‘The Last Photograph’, at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The special screening is scheduled for Sunday, September 13, at the John Bassett Theatre.

Described as a personal project that Snyder has pursued for nearly two decades, the film is a departure from his large-scale superhero and sci-fi works. It is a $10 million mystery thriller shot in locations including Colombia, Iceland, and Los Angeles. The story follows Ethan Black, a retired DEA operative, as he travels into the South American mountains to rescue his missing niece and nephew following the murder of his diplomat brother and sister-in-law. He is aided by a war photographer who witnessed the crime.

The film stars Stuart Martin and Fra Fee, with a screenplay co-written by Snyder and Kurt Johnstad. Hans Zimmer contributed to the score. As of the announcement, the production is still seeking a distributor for theatrical release.
