Zack Snyder updates status of upcoming film projects
Director Zack Snyder has provided several updates regarding his upcoming and pending film projects during a recent appearance on the ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast.
Snyder confirmed that a director’s cut of ‘Sucker Punch’ is ‘definitely on the docket,’ though its release is currently delayed by expiring licensing agreements with Warner Bros. He intends to bring the original actresses back for additional ADR work to complete the vision.
Regarding his remake of ‘Escape from New York,’ Snyder plans to maintain the original’s retro-futuristic tone, setting the story in an ‘alternate 1997’ from a 1981 perspective. He noted that actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been actively lobbying for a role in the production.
Other projects mentioned include a UFC-related film titled ‘Brawlers,’ which is currently waiting for the UFC’s new relationship with Paramount to settle, and a 12-part limited series adaptation of ‘The Fountainhead,’ for which Snyder has already written ten episodes. Additionally, Snyder addressed his decision to avoid James Gunn’s current DC Universe projects, citing personal and emotional reasons.
