Adriatic tourism shows mixed seasonal trends and shifting consumer habits

Tourism trends across the Adriatic coast show varied results for the current season. In Croatia, Šibenik has seen an increase of 14,000 arrivals and 34,000 overnight stays compared to last year. In the Zadar County, July results matched previous years with 565,000 arrivals and 4.84 million overnight stays, with Nin recording a 14 percent growth in arrivals.

However, some regions face challenges. Pula reported nearly identical tourist numbers to last year but a 3 percent decrease in overnight stays, partly due to a reduction in family accommodation capacity. In Dubrovnik, while high-end establishments report growth, others have seen declines of 20 to 30 percent as tourists become more price-sensitive and opt for bakeries or grocery stores over traditional restaurants.

In Montenegro, Tivat is experiencing significant growth, with revenues up 25 percent in the first seven months of the year and hotel occupancy increasing by 6 percent. The primary visitor groups in Tivat include guests from Serbia, Russia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the United Kingdom, and Germany.

Industry experts note a shift in booking behaviors. There is a growing trend of 'last minute' bookings, with some reports suggesting up to 80 percent of capacity being sold at the final moment, forcing hosts to be more flexible with pricing and minimum stay requirements.
