Zadar General Hospital installs new 132,000 euro plasma sterilizer

Zadar General Hospital has installed a new plasma sterilizer, the STERRAD 100NX with ALLClear technology, valued at over 132,000 euros. The procurement was funded by the Croatian Ministry of Health.

The device is used in the Central Sterilization Department to process approximately 100 surgical sets daily from operating rooms and specialist clinics. The sterilization process uses hydrogen peroxide plasma at temperatures between 45 and 50 degrees Celsius, making it ideal for heat-sensitive equipment such as 3D cameras and flexible endoscopes. This low-temperature method also helps reduce instrument corrosion.

The entire processing cycle, from the arrival of a set to its readiness for reuse, takes approximately two and a half hours. According to the manufacturer, this system consumes nearly 70 percent less energy than steam sterilizers and requires less water.
