Zadar Police Honor Fallen Officer Josip Žulj on 35th Anniversary

Police authorities in Zadar marked the 35th anniversary of the death of officer Josip Žulj with a solemn ceremony. The event featured a formation of police officers, the laying of wreaths before a monument near the local church, and the lighting of a candle in his memory. A reading recounted Žulj’s biography: born on 3 August 1952, he joined the police reserve on 2 May 1991 and later the active force of the Zadar Police Department. He was killed on 17 July 1991 during an artillery attack on Lišane Ostrovičke, one of the first grenade attacks in the Zadar region, where priest Mile Mamić also died. Representatives of the local government, the police administration and veteran associations attended, emphasizing the continued remembrance of those who sacrificed their lives for Croatia’s independence.
