Zadar proposes new social welfare measures and rental assistance

The City of Zadar has introduced a draft proposal for a new Decision on Social Welfare, which is currently undergoing a 30-day public consultation period. The new act aims to consolidate and more precisely regulate various social rights and measures that were previously managed through separate documents, aligning them with the current legal framework.

The draft covers 12 types of monetary benefits, subsidies, and refunds, as well as ten groups of social services. Key new measures include a one-time annual financial benefit for foster children and rental assistance for tenants. This rental aid could cover up to 40 percent of monthly rent, provided applicants meet specific social, income, and property requirements.

Existing measures preserved in the draft include monthly benefits for retirees and national elderly benefit recipients, subsidies for nannies, and reimbursements for extracurricular activities. It also covers accommodation costs for parents of children receiving medical treatment outside of Zadar, as well as co-financing for the placement of elderly or infirm individuals in private homes.
