Zadar to host 8th memorial athletic race honoring city defense

The 8th edition of the “Linijom obrane grada Zadra” memorial athletic race is scheduled for October 3, 2026, in Zadar. Organized by the City of Zadar, the Sports Community of Zadar, and the Alojzije Stepinac Athletic Club, the event commemorates the defense of the city.

The 8.7-kilometer route begins at St. Simeon and Thaddeus Square in Bokanjac and concludes at the tank in Dračevac, passing through Musapstan, Crno, and Ploča. Participants can choose to run or walk the course at their own pace. The event is free to enter, with registrations available via Running.hr until October 2, 2026.

Organizers have arranged bus transportation from the parking lot above the Krešimir Ćosić Hall on Višnjik to the starting point. Participants who register by September 20 will receive a shirt, and all finishers will receive a commemorative medal. Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female competitors, the largest teams, and the youngest and oldest participants, alongside a fair play trophy named after Croatian defender Ive Mrkić.
