Zadie Smith releases new essay collection ‘Muertos y vivos’

British author Zadie Smith is releasing a new collection of essays titled ‘Muertos y vivos’ (The Dead and the Living), published by Salamandra Mirás. The collection, scheduled to arrive in Spanish bookstores on September 17, 2026, features reflections on art, memory, politics, and daily life. The essays include portraits of figures such as Joan Didion, Toni Morrison, and Martin Amis, as well as observations on London and the nature of beauty and mortality.

Smith, a professor at New York University and a member of the Royal Society of Literature, also uses her platform to engage with social and environmental issues. She has expressed significant concern regarding climate change and the reduction of freedoms for future generations. The book release will be accompanied by a visit to Madrid and Barcelona between September 18 and 21.
