Parco dei Miti launches immersive Odyssey experience near Mount Etna

The Parco dei Miti in Zafferana Etnea, located on the slopes of Mount Etna, is launching a new immersive experiential path titled ‘Odissea in Sicilia’ starting this October. Every Sunday at 10:00 AM, visitors can engage in a journey that blends Homeric epic, the Sicilian landscape, and immersive technology.

The project utilizes the volcanic landscape as an integral part of the narrative rather than a mere backdrop. The park features artistic installations made of lava stone that represent famous mythological elements, including the Cave of Polyphemus, the Trojan Horse, Odysseus’s Ship, the Minotaur’s Labyrinth, and the Underworld with Tiresias. The experience includes 360-degree navigation and interactive encounters, such as an interactive Polyphemus.

Managed as part of the Etna Today museum hub led by Ettore Barbagallo, the initiative draws on the historical cultural connection between Sicily and the Odyssey, specifically the associations of the island with the land of the Cyclopes and the Aeolian Islands with Aeolus.
