Zafferana Etnea restaurant suspended following labor inspections
During the Ottobrata Zafferanese festival, Carabinieri from Zafferana Etnea and the Labor Inspectorate of Catania conducted targeted inspections of commercial and catering businesses to ensure compliance with labor and safety regulations.
An inspection of a local restaurant revealed several irregularities. Out of eight workers checked, one was found to be employed without a formal contract, and four others had not undergone required medical examinations to verify their fitness for their roles.
As a result, the 39-year-old owner, a resident of Misterbianco, was referred to the judicial authorities. The business faced a suspension of activities, a fine of 3,900 euros regarding the unregistered worker, an additional fine of 1,423.84 euros, and the recovery of 700 euros in social security and welfare contributions.
