Zagreb begins development of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan
The City of Zagreb has officially launched the development of its Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP), a strategic document designed to define the long-term goals for the city's transport system through the end of 2027.
The project, which is expected to take 14 months to complete, involves a contract valued at 288,000 euros (excluding VAT). The development is being carried out by a consortium including Ernst & Young Consulting, the University of Zagreb's Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, the civil society organization ODRAZ, and the architectural-urban firm INTERDIS.
The plan aims to improve daily movement for citizens, increase traffic safety, and reduce congestion, noise, and environmental pollution. It will integrate various transport modes, including walking, cycling, public transport, car usage, parking, and freight/delivery services. A key focus will be placed on the needs of vulnerable groups, such as children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. The final output will include a five-year action plan detailing implementation responsibilities, deadlines, estimated costs, and potential funding sources.
