Zagreb city office documents found in public trash bin
Personal data belonging to kindergarten employees and various contracts from the Zagreb City Office for Education, Sports and Youth were discovered in a trash bin in central Zagreb. The documents were found in a bin on Vlaška Street, exposing sensitive information to the public.
City of Zagreb officials stated that the documents were no longer needed and had been prepared for destruction according to regulations. However, a cleaning worker reportedly replaced the prepared destruction materials with regular waste and placed them in a standard trash bin.
The City of Zagreb has reported the personal data breach to the Personal Data Protection Agency and is in the process of notifying the affected citizens and employees. The Agency for the Protection of Personal Data has confirmed that the documents were disposed of in a public area without supervision, making them accessible to an unlimited number of individuals, and will initiate supervisory proceedings.
