The Zagreb HDZ has issued a warning regarding an 'eco-bomb' in the city, citing the presence of approximately 33,000 tons of hazardous industrial waste located in three lakes at Savica. This waste site is situated near the Petruševec water pumping station, which provides water to roughly 150,000 Zagreb residents.

According to the party, chemical analyses as far back as 2006 confirmed the presence of hazardous waste, and remediation efforts were announced in 2007. While studies in 2016 and 2018 documented soil contamination and increased concentrations of metals and PAHs in groundwater, the Zagreb HDZ accuses Mayor Tomislav Tomašević and the Možemo! administration of inaction over the last five years.

The party further claims that the current administration has stopped essential monitoring of the area and failed to report the Savica site to the Environmental Protection Fund as a priority for remediation. Additionally, the Jakuševec landfill has been identified as a potential source of groundwater contamination for the Petruševec station.
