Zagreb: Action thriller Canary Black to screen at Ban Jelačić Square
The action thriller ‘Canary Black’, which was largely filmed on the streets of Zagreb, will be screened on a large screen at Ban Jelačić Square on Thursday, August 20. The event is part of the Cinehill festival program ‘Zagreb – filmski grad’ (Zagreb – Film City) and features free admission starting at 21:00.
Directed by Pierre Morel, the film stars Kate Beckinsale as Avery Graves, a CIA operative forced to steal confidential information to save her kidnapped husband. The production utilized approximately 130 locations across Zagreb, including Ban Jelačić Square, Cvjetni trg, and Maksimir Stadium, as well as locations in Rovinj during 2022 and 2023.
While the film features an international cast and crew, the production engaged roughly 300 Croatian film professionals, including 69 actors and approximately 1,200 extras. The screening offers residents a chance to view the film in the very settings where the action was captured.
