Zagreb introduces 62 new electric buses to public fleet

Zagreb has introduced 62 new electric buses into its public transport system, operated by ZET. The fleet includes 30 solo MAN Lion’s City 12E buses, 26 articulated MAN Lion’s City 18E buses, and six Iveco midi-buses featuring Serbian-made Feniksbus bodies.

The total investment for the vehicles and supporting infrastructure is approximately 56.8 million euros. Funding was provided through 45.4 million euros from the European Union’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) in cooperation with the Croatian Ministry of Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, and 11.4 million euros from the City of Zagreb budget.

To support the new fleet, a new electric bus depot has been established in Podsused. This facility includes 67 charging stations providing a total of 134 charging points with a combined power capacity of 3.5 megawatts. The buses have ranges between 260 and 500 kilometers, allowing for full-day operation with overnight charging. This acquisition represents about 20 percent of ZET’s fleet, as the city aims to purchase a total of 500 electric buses over the next decade to achieve full electrification.
