Zagreb mayor Tomislav Tomašević criticised for hiring former Možemo deputy Svibor Jančić

Zagreb city council approved the appointment of Svibor Jančić, a former Možemo party representative and ex‑city assembly member, as a specialist advisor at the Zagreb Energy Centre. The selection process drew criticism after 23 candidates applied, only four took the written test and Jančić placed second, yet he received the highest score in the interview, overtaking the top written‑test performer by a narrow margin.

Councillor Dina Dogan publicly questioned the transparency of the recruitment, arguing that the interview stage effectively decided the outcome and that the procedure did not reflect merit‑based hiring. The opposition party Drito echoed these concerns, accusing mayor Tomislav Tomašević of continuing partisan staffing within the municipal administration and citing similar recent appointments of other Možemo‑linked individuals.

Both the council member and the opposition claim the hiring practice undermines promised transparency and meritocracy in Zagreb’s public institutions, prompting calls for greater scrutiny of municipal recruitment processes.
