Zagreb mayor Tomislav Tomašević slammed over unfulfilled promises

Opposition leader Marija Selak Raspudić of the Drito party accused Zagreb mayor Tomislav Tomašević of delivering a “year of false promises” in the first year of his second term. She highlighted four scandals – the Hipodrom project, water‑supply and drainage issues, a new health centre on the west side of the city, and the psychiatric clinic Sveti Ivan – and said none of the 27 strategic infrastructure projects announced by the city had been completed, with only four in the final stage.

Selak Raspudić also criticized the administration for relying on studies, surveys and PR campaigns instead of concrete actions, and labelled the mayor a “nightmare” for the city. The mayor responded that delays were caused by a shortage of construction workers and denied that recent personnel changes in the traffic‑and‑municipal‑services department were linked to a handball event. The city council did approve a waste‑management plan and amendments to the urban plan, but opposition figures say overall progress remains lacking.
